Mom's face is going to light up the minute you bring her to Farrand Farms. Our spectacular display of color and home-grown quality is going to make her special day even more special.
The roses are beginning to develop buds and are of outstanding quality this season. Choose from over 100 great varieties. We have plenty of Knock-Outs and 'David Austin' Old English styles too.
Melissa has created a magical group of combination planters for Mom to choose from. There are all sorts of containers, sizes and collections. Help her select one with her favorite color. If your Mom can't share the visit with you, we have Gift Certificates available in any amount, and guess what? . . . .No service fees and NO expiration dates! Good anytime.
Just a few other notes to help you and the kids achieve success in the garden: 1. Add 'Cotton Burr Compost' to the flower and vegetable beds. Cotton Burr is 100% organic AND will enhance the root zone. Happy roots mean happy flowers and healthy vegetables.
2. Always add nutrients (organic or nonorganic) after you have planted your plants. Rain and your watering will take the food to the roots for you.
3. Don't forget, kids love to play in the dirt. Share the joy together.
OTHER COMMON QUESTIONS WE ARE FREQUENTLY ASKED:
1. Why isn't my creeping myrtle growing? It's way too early for most varieties. Often they do not even come up until mid-May.
2. Where are my hardy hibiscus? Same answer as above. They are hot weather lovers and often don't emerge until mid-May.
3. Do you have Sweet Potato plants? Yes, we do. We raise 'Beauregard' which we think is the best variety in the Midwest. It produces extremely well, is red-skinned with orange meat and can make some awesome sized Sweet Potatoes.
4. Is it OK to plant now? You bet it is! Keep an eye on the weather, but under normal conditions we are safe from here on.
We extend our thanks to all of the fine mothers who have shown great patience and guidance while steering us into the future. Thank you for all that you do. I wish you a very happy and delightful Mother's Day!
